Best resources to build your business
Read time: 2 min, 47 secs
Hey there - it's Brian đź‘‹
I’m still in Colombia.
My mission is to get you expert marketing talent at 70% the cost of US marketers.
So I’m here shaking hands with marketers in person.
The biggest thing that shocked me when I met them?
Starting the day in Colombia
Holy crap their English is good.
I usually aim for Schwarzenegger-level English. But yesterday I walked into a co-work for remote marketers.
I saw Matt Damon-level English.
I mean, check out this ad we filmed this week.
If you find yourself still doing mindless stuff that isn’t actually moving the needle on your business:
âžź Updating reports
âžź Automating emails
âžź Fixing your website
âžź Researching clients
âžź Content scheduling
âžź Updating client data
âžź Managing your inbox
âžź Documenting processes
I’ll get you your time back so you can grow your business.
In the meantime…
I’m a creator-operator.
I consume A LOT of content. And spend the day building businesses.
This week I’ll share an honest review of the best content to build your business.
The review style will help you decide if it’s worth your time:
By they way: I’m testing a new format.

Best books to build your business
1) The Great CEO Within - Matt Mochary
Matt sold his tech business for $150M+.
Never had to worry about money again so he wanted to give back. So now he coaches tech CEOs on how he did it.
To namedrop… he’s Sam Altman’s CEO coach…
He built a tactical guide to be a CEO. And it’s incredible:
âžź Ops
âžź Management
âžź Run meetings
âžź Motivate people
âžź Shut down gossip
âžź How to hand out titles
âžź How to choose a lawyer / CFO
Etc etc.
If you’re a current (or aspiring) CEO… Read this book.
2) SPIN Selling - Neil Rackham
My sales calls are starting to pile up (geez I have 4 after lunch)
So there’s a big opportunity to boost the business by improving my close rate.
I sell with the CLOSER framework from Alex Hormozi (I’ll share the framework at the end).
I love the framework, but I need to add more nuance.
There’s a huge difference with my sales that have a longer sales cycle.
SPIN selling is for you if you want to close more sales for big-ticket / long sales cycle.
3) High Output Management - Andy Grove
Andy Grove was the CEO of Intel.
He took Intel on a rocketship. Then in the 80’s, he wrote lessons his experience on how to manage people.
This book has been on my list for a while since every CEO I admire quotes this book.
I’ll admit I’m only 3 chapters in. But already it’s SO good.
A few things that made me think:
1) When you get information, are you just passing it to someone else? Or do you actually add value to it?
2) Think of meetings as cost. Manager’s time + overhead is ~$100 / hour.
So if 5 people meet for 2 hours… that’s a $1,000 meeting.
3) If your people don’t get something done, they either can’t or won’t do it.
If they can’t = train them.
If they won’t = motivate them.
Those are your only two jobs.
Content that transformed my business this week:
This is content I found this week that gave me a big ah-hah moment to build my business.
1) Need better people in your business?
“People” is the answer to getting your time back.
But if these people aren’t as talented as you thought (OR aren’t a good cultural fit) it’s a waste of time and money.
Don’t let the wrong people in.
Nail the hiring process to make sure your business is filled with rockstars.
So steal this interview framework from Leila Hormozi (co-CEO of Acquisition.com).
2) Spending too much time on tasks? Need to delegate
If you wish you had 100 hours each day, you need to delegate.
But there are 4 tiers to delegating.
(Based on who you delegate to and how skilled they are)
Make sure you’re handing off tasks in the right way to get things done at the quality you need.
3) Running ads and they aren’t working. Fix attribution
Google or Facebook is TERRIBLE at showing you which ads are actually making you money.
Their data is wrong. So you decide to spend money on the wrong ads then get frustrated when you don’t get sales.
Here’s a quick wake up call to how far off the platforms are (and how to fix your ads).
BONUS: The framework to close sales
I’m including this bonus since I mentioned it earlier.
Here’s a step-by-step to the best sales script I’ve found.
The CLOSER framework:
The most valuable skill you’ve never been taught:
Persuasion.
Use this script to get customers to buy:

Keep building.
See you next Thursday đź‘‹
P.S. Want your time back to focus on clients & creating value?
Don’t have $100k people do $10 / hour tasks.
Let expert marketers get your time back.
